Hundred Sceneries of Wakayama

The theme of Wakayama Prefecture's pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo is "Hundred Sceneries of Wakayama".

The "Hundred Sceneries of Wakayama” will beautifully show the two faces of Wakayama Prefecture, both as a spiritual world and the real world, through the culture, arts, nature and industry of Wakayama Prefecture and its people, in a sophisticated modern space.

―The Spiritual Heart of Japan―

The Kii Mountain Range in Wakayama has long been considered a special place where deities have dwelled since mythological times.

With a welcoming spirit, people here have accepted all comers regardless of religion, social status or philosophical outlook to assimilate and harmoniously coexist.

A spiritual culture fostered by the spiritual heartland and its residents - implying a sustainable society of mutual respect for diverse values.

Contets

In the Wakayama Zone, three key elements—space, audio visuals, and food—come together to showcase the “best of Wakayama”. The space is designed with materials and techniques unique to Wakayama, including the towering "Totems" video installation, finished with Kishu lacquerware, a traditional craft of the region. The visuals represent Wakayama's "spirit of tolerance," highlighting how its rich history and stunning natural landscapes have embraced and blended different elements to create something new. At the counter bar in the back, visitors can enjoy a special food experience, co-created with local confectioners and chefs, centered on the theme "Eating the Forest."
