Handmade washi workshop Aserina

Washi Andon made in a satoyama workshop|Lantern craft experience

At the "Asserina Workshop" located in the satoyama of Kimino-cho, Wakayama Prefecture, this is a craft experience where you can enjoy making andon using Japanese paper.
Andon is a traditional Japanese lighting fixture made by stretching Japanese paper on a wooden frame. It is characterized by soft light through washi paper, and has created a calm space in Japanese homes and inns.
In this experience, you will create an original andon using washi paper. You can choose your favorite washi paper and combine them to create a design.
When you light up the finished andon, gentle light spreads through the washi paper, allowing you to enjoy the calm atmosphere typical of Japan. It is also popular as an interior decoration and can be enjoyed at home.
